Moving Day

We are moving out of our house today, and into a tiny duplex while we renovate our new house. Ryan and I have been busy packing all week, and we are ready to go! I may be gone for a few days while we unpack and get settled. Happy Saturday!

Friday Favorites

Ryan got me a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and I love it.  I have a feeling I'm going to be using it a lot this summer, and I don't want it to get messed up at the beach/pool/lake/anywhere in general, so I've been on the lookout for a good cover. I love this one I found on Etsy.

I think this Anthropologie bathing suit is adorable. I saw it on Pinterest, and I've had my eye on it for a while. We are headed to the beach for a friend's wedding in a few weeks, and I wouldn't mind having this one in my bag.

I ordered a few of these Baggu bags a couple of months ago, and they are perfect to take to the grocery store, or to use as an overnight bag or gym bag. They are really big, and I'm always surprised how much I can fit in them.

Ryan and I saw The Hunger Games last weekend, and it was UH-mazing! I read all of the books, and I couldn't wait to see the movie. I don't know if I would have liked the movie as much if I hadn't read the book, but I thought it was great. The characters were perfectly cast and they did a really good job of keeping the movie true to the book.

Six Months

Happy half birthday Eliza! She turned six months old yesterday. Her check-up at the doctor went great. She is now 16.69 pounds (62nd percentile) and 26.5 inches (76th percentile). She is wearing mostly six to ninth month clothes, but I don’t think it will be long before she needs a bigger size in certain brands of clothing. We just switched over to size three diapers today. Her hair is still slowly growing, and it looks like it is going to be light brown. Eliza is drooling and chewing on everything, but still hasn’t had any teeth pop through yet.

She is growing so fast and learning new things every day. She can now sit up on her own for about a minute or two. She is getting better at it, but I would never leave her alone while she is sitting because she hasn’t quite learned how to brace herself when she starts to fall. She loves to roll around, and she scoots her body from one side of her crib to the other at night and when she is napping. She also “talks” to us all the time, especially when we are out in public. She has started to laugh a lot more than she used to, and I loved hearing her little giggles.

Eliza hates her Bumbo seat, and tries to arch her back and wriggle out of it every time I put her in it. She does, however, love her Baby Einstein bouncy seat and jumpy seat. This is great entertainment for her while I take a shower and get dressed. She also loves her Baby Einstein and baby sign language movies. When I turn them on, she immediately starts smiling. Bath time is another favorite activity, and I cannot wait to take her swimming in my parents’ pool the next time we are in Columbia.

We have been very blessed that Eliza has been such a good eater and sleeper. I am crossing my fingers that this does not change. So far, she has tried bananas, carrots, peas, squash, zucchini, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, and avocados. We mostly make her food, but she has tried a few things out of the jar when I haven’t had time to make anything.  She has a five ounce bottle of milk every three to four hours. I also gave her a teething biscuit for the first time the other day. It made a huge mess, but she loved it.

Eliza likes to sleep on her stomach or her side, and she usually flips over as soon as I put her in her crib. She goes to bed around 8:00 or 8:30 and she sleeps until about 7:00. She typically takes two naps a day for about an hour and a half or two hours.

Eliza looks and acts just like Ryan. They are both laid back and easy-going, and I am so thankful that she got his personality rather than mine because, from what I’ve been told, I was not a very good baby. I cannot believe half of a year with her has already gone by, and I can’t wait to see what the next six months will bring.

In honor of her half birthday, I have posted all of Eliza's monthly pictures below, so you can see how much she has grown.

Eliza's Baptism

Eliza was baptized this morning, and it has been such a special day. So many family members and friends came to Greenville to see her, and it meant so much to Ryan and I that everyone was here to share this day with us. Eliza did so well in church. The baptism was kind of in the middle of her nap time, and I was worried she was going to be fussy, but she didn't make a peep. She wore the same dress that my sister and I wore when we were baptized, and she looked beautiful!

After the baptism, we had everyone over to our house for lunch. We were really glad the rain held off because we don't have a lot of space in our house, and it would have been tight trying to fight everybody inside. My wonderful mother-in-law and her good friend, Ellie, cooked all of the food. They are the BEST cooks, and everything was delicious. My mom was also a huge help. She came up on Friday, and helped us set up and take care of Eliza. There is no way I could have pulled all of this off without their help because.

Did I mention that we are moving this weekend? That's right, we had about thirty people at our house this weekend, and now we have one week to pack all of our things and get it moved. Yes, we are crazy. Well, actually I'm crazy. Ryan told me that we should pick a different weekend, and I obviously didn't listen to him. I just wanted to have one last hoorah in this house before we move. It has just started to hit me that this is our last week in this house. It makes me sad to think about it, but I'm also excited about this next step in our lives.

Here are a few a million pictures I took from Eliza's baptism.

Light of my Life

I have been looking for some really cool light fixtures for our new house, and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you. I found all of these from Shades of Light.

And this one is my personal favorite, but definitely not in our budget! :)
