One Year!

My sweet girl is one today! We have had such a fun day together and we can't wait to celebrate with our friends and family next weekend at her birthday party.

This has been the happiest and best year of my life, and I cannot believe how fast it has gone by. I feel like it was just yesterday that we were leaving the hospital with a new born baby. It has been amazing to watch Eliza grow and change over the past twelve months. She is such a blessing to our family and I thank God every day for her.

What a difference a year makes...

Happy first birthday little girl! I love you so much!

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband! I am so proud to be your wife and I could not ask for a better person to spend my life with. We've been through so much in the past few years that it's hard to believe that just two years ago today we were saying "I do" and having the time of our lives dancing the night away. You truly are my best friend and I love you so much!

Feels Like Fall

Okay, well not really. It's still 85 degrees in the afternoons here, but the mornings and evenings have been really nice this week. We are loving the nice weather and trying to spend a lot of time outside. Happy Saturday and happy first day of fall!

Weekend Recap

We took a break from working around the house this weekend to enjoy some family time. We have lot coming up over the next few weeks and knew that this weekend would be one of the only times that we'd be able to just hang out together, so we wanted to take advantage of it. On Saturday morning we took Eliza on her first visit to Waffle House and she loved it (although it doesn't look like she did in one of these pictures). I think she went into a food coma from her waffle because she took a three hour nap when we got home.

After Eliza woke up from her nap we took her to her first Clemson game! It was really hot, but she was a trooper. She made through almost the entire game. We had a great time and it was really great to be back in Clemson. I didn't make it to any games last year because I was either nine months pregnant or had a newborn during all of the games. I didn't realize how much I missed it until we were actually there walking through campus.

Enjoying Our New Place

Hey y'all! I'm back! I couldn't stay away for too long. We are slowly but surely getting settled into our new house. We are loving having more space and a big yard for the dogs. We also really like the street that we're living on. There are tons of families, and I love looking out the window and seeing kids riding their bikes and playing together.

We've unpacked and all of our things already, but we have a long way to go when it comes to filling up the house. Some of our furniture has been ordered, but hasn't come in yet, and then other rooms just aren't quite done yet. I know that we will get there over time, but I have the type of personality that wants everything done right now. I want to know that everything is put together and in it's proper place. It seems like we get one thing completed and there is another list full of things that needs to be finished.

I am trying to remind myself that I need to grateful for the fact that we are in our house in the first place (which of course, I am) and to be patient when it comes "finishing" our house. I am also trying to remember that all of the material things that I want right now are not what is important. My faith and my family are what truly matter and I want to enjoy every minute with them.

Happy Birthday Mom

I know I said that I was taking a little blog break, but I couldn't go without wishing my mom a very Happy Birthday! I could not ask for a for a better example of the kind of mother I want to be. Mom, I love you so much and I hope that you have a wonderful day!

She claims she can't remember how old she is, but I'm not buying that. ;) She doesn't look a day over thirty, right?!

Oh Happy Day

The day we have been waiting for is here! After spending five long months in an 800 square foot apartment with three people and two dogs, we are finally moving into our new house. We could not be more excited. I'm going to take a blog break for a week or two while we get settled in, but I'll leave you with some pictures of our new house. I'm hoping to do a "before and after" post sometime in the near future, but for now it's just  few "after" pictures.

All of the credit for our new house goes to two people: my husband, Ryan, and my friend, Caroline. Ryan designed the  floor plan himself, and spent many weekends and late nights working at our house to save us from having to pay someone else to do the work. There is no way this would have been possible if it weren't for him. Ryan, thank you for all of your hard work. I am so proud of all that you have done and I love you very much!

My friend Caroline helped me with all of the design work, and she did an amazing job. She answered countless phone calls from me about every minor detail that I had no clue about. I cannot thank her enough for all of her help. If you need any design work done, check out her work at Caroline Shook Interiors.
