Two!

Our sweet little butter-bean is two years old today! She is such a blessing and we are having so much fun with her these days! Eliza has been singing "Happy day to me!" all day long. We celebrated with our family tonight and we are having a little party with some of her friends this weekend.

3 Years

Happy 3rd Anniversary to my handsome hubby! I love you very much and I'm so proud of you. You are a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend. You work  so hard for our family and you are always there for us. I know it sounds cliche, but the past few years have not always been easy, but they have brought us closer together and closer to the Lord. Of all of your accomplishments, I am most proud of how your relationship with Him has grown. I am so glad the He chose you for me and Eliza, and I can't wait for many more years together! I love you!

House Tour-Master Bathroom

Our master bathroom is the last stop on the downstairs floor of the house tour. When we were renovating the house Ryan and I debated whether or not we wanted a bathtub in this room. We knew that if we decided to put in a tub that we wouldn't have room for a big shower. In our last house we had a nice, huge tub in the master bathroom and we never used it. We figured that if we had a bigger shower we'd use that a lot more, so we nixed the bathtub. Our only concern was if we ever decide to sell this house that it might be an issue for potential buyers, but Ryan's mom is a real estate agent, and she said she didn't think that it would be a detriment. So far we aren't regretting our decision!

Before:

We made use of the existing plumbing in the house, and turned what used to be the kitchen into our master bathroom. These before pictures look nothing close to the final product, but this really is what our bathroom used to look like.

House Tour-Master Bedroom

Good Saturday morning to you all! We are getting ready to go to a birthday party for one of Eliza's friends and then we're heading to Columbia to go wedding dress shopping with my sister! I'm so excited! I'm also going to a bridal shower on Sunday while I'm in Columbia and then have a meeting about my high school reunion, so we are going to be busy! Good thing it's all good stuff! Moving right along with the house tour, here is a look at our master bedroom.

Before:

Because we added a bathroom to the guest bedroom upstairs, which is right above our bedroom, we added square footage to the master. That's why the room looks bigger in the after pictures. We also turned the screened in porch off of this room into a closet.

The Details:
  • Wall color- Benjamin Moore Intellectual Gray
  • Rug-from Post and Gray in Charlotte, NC
  • Bed-Our bed is nothing to write home about, but it serves its purpose. It's from Value City Furniture. I would absolutely love an upholstered headboard, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  • Bedding-The comforter was passed down from my mother-in-law and the pillows and bed skirt were  made by the same seamstress who did our curtains.
  • End Tables-Ryan made the end tables and we had the table skirts made. The fabric was on clearance at Post and Gray
  • Lamps-from Home Goods
  • Painting above the bed-This was done by Ryan's mom and it is one of my favorite paintings. It was in their old house and Debi knew that I'd always loved it, so she gave it to me when they moved.
  • Loveseat by the window-This was part of Ryan's great grandmother's bedroom set. His mom passed it down to us and we just had it recovered at Best Upholstering here in Greenville.
  • Curtains-The curtains were made by our seamstress. The buffalo check fabric can be ordered here.
Things we'd still like to do:
  • Add glass doors to the built in shelves.
  • Find a chair for the built in desk.
  • Find some sort of bench or stools to go at the foot of our bed.
  • Find a screen for the fireplace. Do y'all know expensive those things are?! It's crazy! I did find one I liked for a great price a few months back, but decided to wait on it, and it's gone now. I'm kicking myself for not getting it!

Engagement Weekend

Hey friends! I hope you all had a great week! I don't know about y'all, but I am glad it's the weekend. I've had so much to do lately that I haven't been able to get anything done. This time of year is always really busy for us and I feel like the weekends are the only time I can really relax and get caught up on things. I'm not going to lie, I am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things with school, and I'm pretty overwhelmed right now. I'll get there eventually, but it's tough.

Anywho, enough with the complaint session. A few weekends ago Ryan and I were in Asheville for a really big weekend. My sister got engaged! I am beyond excited for her and so glad that her fiance wanted us to be a part of the weekend. David, Liza's fiance, proposed to her on the grounds of the Biltmore and then surprised her by having his family and our family waiting for them at the Grove Park Inn when they got back. She had no clue we were going to be there, and actually walked right past us as they were coming into the lobby. We celebrated on Friday night with dinner on the terrace of the Grove Park Inn and continued the celebration on Saturday morning with a rafting trip down the Nolichucky River. We had such a great weekend and can't wait for many more celebrations in the next few months as they get ready for their wedding! Congratulations Liza and David! We love you!
