Peter Rabbit Themed Baby Shower

I mentioned in my last post that I, along with some other friends, hosted a baby shower at our house the other weekend. I wanted to share a few of the details with y'all because I thought everything turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself. I cannot take credit for any of these details because all I did was make sure that my house was not covered with toys and dog hair, and that it was fairly presentable.

We (and when I say we I mean my creative and talented friends that hosted the shower with me) decided to do a whole Peter Rabbit theme for the shower. It was for one of my very best and sweetest friends from college. She is expecting a baby boy in August and I am beyond thrilled for her. She is going to be a great mommy!

House Tour-Kitchen

Hi friends! Now that we've been in our house for almost a year now I thought it was time that I share some pictures with y'all. We had a baby shower here last weekend and we're having an engagement party this weekend, and there's nothing like having a party to make you get your house together! I'll start with the kitchen and share other rooms in later posts, so be on the lookout for those.

Come on in.....

It's hard to do before and after pictures of our house because we pretty much gutted the entire first floor, but I'll try to do some before pictures with each post. This is what our current kitchen used to look like. It was a bedroom and bathroom before we made it our kitchen.

 And here it is after.

The Details:
  • My handy hubby designed and built this kitchen along with some help of the lovely and talented Caroline Shook at CarolineShookInteriors.
  • Our cabinets were done by Savage Cabinet Company here in Greenville.
  • The knobs and cups on the cabinetry from here and here.
  • The paint on the island is Benjamin Moore-Briarwood.
  • The butcher block wood on the island is from Ikea.
  • Light fixtures above the island are from Shades of Light
  • Our appliances are Electrolux. Some of them we got from Endtime Harvest Thirft Store and what we couldn't find there we got from from Jeff Lynch here in Greenville.
  • The barstools are from Bed,Bath, andBeyond and we painted them white.
  • The rugs were passed down from my mother-in-law, but I'm pretty sure she found them on Ebay.
  • The bamboo shade above the sink is from Overstock.

Daddy's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandads, and soon-to-be dads out there! I hope that you've had the best day because you deserve it! Ryan, thank you for being such a wonderful father to Eliza. I love you very much and hope that you've had a great Father's Day!

“For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.” (Genesis 18:19)

And I can't go without wishing my dad and very Happy Father's Day as well! Thank you so much for all that you've done and continue to do for me. I love you!

School's Out for Summer!

I am done with school, at least for a few months, and I am so excited. I can't wait for a relaxing summer with my sweet girl. Yesterday was bittersweet for me because I am leaving the school I've been working at for four years to move to another school closer to our house. I know this is the best move for my family but I am really going to miss my friends at EHS and I hope that we can stay in touch! Happy Summer to me! :)

First and Last Day of School

My last day of school is not until tomorrow, but Eliza finished last week. My mom and my mother-in-law have been such a big help in keeping her for us while I finish out the year. I'm really excited to be able to spend a lot of time with Eliza this summer, but I know she (and I) are going to miss her wonderful teachers. They have been amazing and it was such a comfort to know that she was so well taken care of every day. I can remember how anxious and nervous I was to drop her off on the first day, and they just made me feel so comfortable.

I am really mad at myself because I accidentally deleted the sweetest picture of all three of them off of my camera, but I was able to get a good picture of Eliza on her last day. It is amazing how much she's changed in less than a year!

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

We were originally planning to go to the lake for Memorial Day weekend, but at the last minute we decided to stay home, and I'm so glad we did. We've been on the go so much lately that it was nice to be at home for weekend and not have anything to do. We went to Freedom Weekend Aloft, spent some time in the "pool." and just relaxed.
