Sunglasses Saturday

After a busy few weeks, this weekend we were finally able to relax and just hang out. We had no plans the whole weekend, and it was so nice. On Saturday we all put on our sunglasses and headed outside.

5 months

Eliza is five months old today, and can you believe it, I'm actually posting this on time! She has been working on a lot of new things this month. She is trying very hard to hold her own bottle, but she can't quite figure out how to do it yet. She is also sitting up with assistance and rolling all over the place. We took her out of her sleep sack at night, and now she rolls over to sleep on her stomach. I think this has helped her to sleep better at night. For the most part she will sleep all night. Every now and then she will wake up around 4 or 5, and start talking to herself, but she usually puts herself back to sleep. We put her to bed around 8 or 9 and she usually wakes up between 7 and 8:30.

We started Eliza on solid foods at four months old. So far she has tried rice cereal, peas, squash, avocado, and sweet potato. She is a good eater, and seems to like everything. I think the sweet potato and squash are her favorites. We are still making all of her food, and we are trying to do all organic. Right now we are feeding her after her morning bottle and at night around 6:30. I think we are going to add one more feeding around lunchtime in the next week or so. She has been napping better this month, and I think it has to do with eating solid food. She takes one nap in the morning for about an hour or an hour and a half, and another longer one in the afternoon for about two hours.

I'm not sure exactly how much Eliza weighs because she didn't go to the doctor this month, but I think she is around 15 or 16 pounds. We go back to the doctor at six moths, so we'll know for sure then. She is wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes. She doesn't have any teeth popping through yet, but she is still drooling all over the place. Eliza loves to "talk" and she is constantly making noises. I know it's hard to tell from the pictures, but her hair is slowly growing. I can't wait until it gets long enough to put a bow in it! Right now, I'd have to tape a bow in her hair, and I don't think that would look too good.

These past five months have flow by, and I can't believe Eliza will be half a year old next month! She brings so much joy to our lives and we love our sweet little nugget so much!

Visit from Family and Friends

I have not disappeared! We are alive and well. I feel like I say that every post. Lately we have been so busy that I haven't had time for blogging, and when I have had I time, I just haven't been able to muster the energy to write anything. These days I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. I know feeling like this has a lot do with being a working mother, and that I will always have a millions things to do, and not enough time to do them. If only I could function on less sleep and there were more hours in the day! Anyway, we have been extremely busy lately, and I think I hope things are going to slow down for us soon.

Last weekend, my sister in law and her family came in town, and Eliza got to spend some quality time with her cousins. They moved to Charleston last year, and we don't get to see them as much as we used to. We miss them so much, and it was such a treat to be able to hang out with them the whole weekend.

We also had another friend in town last weekend that we never get to see. One of my best friends from college came to visit from Kentucky, and she got meet Eliza for the first time. Our friends, Caroline and Trenton, had an oyster roast on Friday night, and we got to hang out with everybody at their place. Caroline did a great job hosting the party. The food was awesome and their house looked great, and she did all this while taking care of her three month old! I only took one picture from the night, but thankfully Caroline let me steal some from her Facebook to share with y'all. (The sweet little girl in the pictures is Caroline's daughter, Sutton. Eliza was at our house with the babysitter.)

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day friends! I hope you are spending it with someone you love. This weekend we made Valentines to send to our family. As you can see, this was no easy task, but they turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.

4 Months

I’m only two and a half weeks late on this post. Sorry y'all, but these days I'm struggling to do anything on time. I'll try to do better with the next monthly post. :) Eliza is now 4 months old. She is such a happy baby, and this is a really fun age.

At her four month check up she weighed 14.19 lbs (49th percentile) and she was 24.5 inches long (50th percentile). Her clothing size is all over the place. She can wear some 6-9 month clothes, but she can also still fit in some of her 3 month outfits. We just switched to size three diapers this week. Eliza is becoming more alert, and loves to look around and take everything in. She is rolling over from her stomach to her back, and she can almost roll over from back to stomach. She is grabbing for her toys and seems to notice them more than she used to. I love watching her hold her toys and try to eat them.

She doesn't have any teeth popping through yet, but she is drooling ALL the time. Dr. Mathias felt her gums at her appointment and said they were swollen, and that she could have one or two popping through sometime soon. We started her on rice cereal about a week ago, and this week she tried peas for the first time. She’s not crazy about the rice cereal, but she seems to like peas. We have been making all of our own baby food, and it is much easier than I thought it would be. I'm going to try to keep it up because it's good for Eliza and it saves a lot of money.

As far as sleeping, it’s hit or miss. She started sleeping through the night at about ten weeks old, but in the past couple of weeks she has started to wake up again during the night. I'm hoping that she will get back on her regular nighttime schedule sooner rather than later.

Ryan and I are so blessed to have such a sweet little girl. I love her more and more everyday, and I can't believe how fast she is growing. Happy 4 months Eliza!

Mountian Weekend

Last weekend we went to the mountains with some friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We were there the whole weekend, and it was the first time we left Eliza for more than one night. I missed her so much, but Ryan's mom was keeping her, and I knew she was in good hands. We had a great time in the mountains, and the entire weekend was so relaxing. Sorry for the picture overload! I went a little crazy with the camera. :)
