Hello World

Elizabeth Grace Garrison was born on Monday, September 26th at 1:55 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 14 ounces, and was 20.25 inches. We got home on Wednesday afternoon, and we are tired, but very happy.

I am so overwhelmed by the sweet text messages, emails, phone calls, and visits from friends. Ryan and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful family and friends. My mom has been here with us since we got home from the hospital, and I don't know what I'm going to do when she leaves. She and Ryan's mom have both been such a big help to us this week. I cannot thank everyone enough for all that they have done for us!

Weekend Update

Today I am officially one day past my due date, and still no baby. I hate to complain because I have had a relatively easy pregnancy so far, but I don't know if I can take it much longer. Every day I wake up and look in the mirror, and my face gets more swollen. Then I look down at my fingers, and they are getting more sausage-like by the hour. I really hope its not too much longer!

Besides the fact that we didn't get to meet Eliza, Ryan and I had a pretty good weekend. On Friday night we went out to dinner with some friends. On Saturday morning we went to  brunch with Ryan's brother and mom. After brunch, we painted our front door. What do you think?

Then we cheered on the Tigers. Ryan's mom gave us this tutu for Eliza, and of course Ryan just had to test it out on Belle. Poor thing!

After watching the game, we went to dinner at the Melting Pot to celebrate our anniversary. After dinner we came back home to open presents and eat the top tier of our wedding cake. When we got home I pulled out the cake to slice it, and I realized that the flowers had never been taken off the cake. It looked absolutely disgusting! Needless to say, we did not eat any of our wedding cake.

Here is the before:

And here is the after:

Yummy!

Ryan knows just what I like!

On Sunday we went to lunch with Ryan's family. After lunch we did a little yard work and decorating for fall. We also went on a long walk to try and induce labor, but we were unsuccessful. We just ended up tired and sweaty.

Later that night we had some anniversary champagne and dessert.

I will keep you all posted if anything happens this week. Hopefully my next post will include pictures of baby Eliza!

Happy Anniversary

Tomorrow Ryan and I will celebrate our first anniversary. Actually we are going to celebrate tonight, but tomorrow is our actual anniversary. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful husband who I love for so many reasons.

He is kind and thoughtful.

He is handy and fixes things for me.

Even when he doesn't feel like it.

He is sporty and athletic.

He is smart and creative.
(Here he is designing my engagement ring.)

He can carve a pumpkin like no one else.

He has a sense of humor.
He cooks for me because this is what happens every time I try to cook.

He is handsome.

And he is going to be a great dad!

Happy Anniversary Ryan! I love you so much and I can't wait to celebrate many more years together!

Happy Friday

I can't believe it, but I made it through my last week of school. I am now officially on maternity leave! I am so happy because this means that I won't have to go back to school until January. If I had gone into labor early, I would have had to go back to work for one week in December because of the way my days off worked out. This was not an easy week at school, but I am glad I made it through the week!

I was really afraid that my water was going to break in the middle of class. I would have never lived that down. A hundred ninth graders would have been talking about how I peed in my pants for the rest of the year. I'm soooo glad that didn't happen.

Now I plan to spend the weekend relaxing and celebrating my anniversary. Oh yeah, and I might have a baby! I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Delicious Dish

The other night, I made these chicken tacos from here. They were really easy to make and soooo good. If you've never heard of The Pioneer Woman, you should check out her blog. Her recipes are great and she is hilarious.

And for dessert, I made chocolate and peanut butter filled crescent rolls. I have got to stop making dessert because I am the only one in our house who ends up eating it. :)

Front Door Fun

Ryan and I have been thinking about painting our front door a fun color to add a little curb appeal to our house. I have been trying to decide on a color. I just love all of these bright, fun front doors. It would make me happy to walk through these any day.

I have lost my mind

and my favorite shoes! I know these shoes are somewhere in my house, I just don't know where. It doesn't help that I'm having trouble bending down to look under beds, couches, and chairs. The last time I remember wearing them was about a week ago, but I have no idea what happened to them after that. I was watching a reality show the other day, and a pregnant girl on the show was talking about a condition called PB-pregnancy brain. This is exactly what I have! I hope my shoes turn up sometime soon!

The Countdown Is On!

I can't believe that in almost one week little Eliza will be here! Ryan and I are so excited to meet her! Our bags are packed, and we are ready to go! Right now we are just patiently waiting.

I am ready!

Ryan, Sawyer, and Belle are ready!

Our bags are packed!

Can you believe we are taking this many bags to the hospital? The doctors and nurses are going to think we are moving in.

I wish my pantry looked like this...

In fact, I wish I had a pantry at all! When I actually do have one some day, I'm not sure it will ever look this good.

Are We Crazy?

I believe the answer to that question is yes. Within the span of one year, Ryan and I have gotten married, given our little house a makeover, found out that I was pregnant, and put our house on the market. In the next two weeks we will also celebrate our first anniversary and have a baby (hopefully this will happen in the next two weeks). A year ago, if you had told me that we would be here now, I would have laughed in your face. If I have learned one thing this year, it's that God plans aren't always the same as ours.

Yes, you did read that right, we put our house on the market two weeks before we are about to have a baby. Most people would NEVER do this, but like I said, we are crazy. My mother in law is a real estate agent, and we like to look at houses around our neighborhood for fun. About a month ago, I called to see if she could show us a house that I had been eying online. It turned out that the house I wanted to see was not at all what I thought it would be. Ryan and I want a house that we can do a lot of work to, but the floor plan of this house was not ideal.

Later that day we ended up looking at another house on the same street that we absolutely loved. When I saw this house online, I turned my nose up at it, but it was much better in person than I originally thought. As we walked around the house talking about the changes we could make, I started imagining our little family there. Ryan must have been thinking the same thing because by the time we got back to our house we had decided to make an offer. The next day Ryan's mom was at our house so we could sign the papers. Now, I know it sounds like we made a quick decision about this house without giving it much thought, but we have been looking at houses around our neighborhood for a couple of years now, and we know what we want. Ryan and I both knew that this house was what we were looking for.

The current owners of the house we liked were in the process of painting the entire house and putting in new hardwood floors. The offer we made was much lower than the asking price, contingent upon selling our house, and we asked that they stop all work being done, so that we could finish it ourselves. When we made this offer, we thought there was no way that the owners would accept it with all of those conditions, but we made it anyway, just to see.

Well, they ended up accepting our offer, so now we are trying to sell our house. I bought this house a little over four and half years ago, and I have loved living here. Ryan and I have been slowly but surely making many changes to it over our time here. It is a great house, and I will be sad to leave it, but things are getting a little tight with two adults, two high maintenance dogs, and a baby on the way.

If you are interested, here are few pictures of what our house currently looks like. I will have to do a post of some before and after pictures another day. Also, here is the link to the MLS listing: house.
Even if you are not interested, pass the word along to someone who might be. Help us get our house sold, so we can add a little more craziness to our lives. :)
